Outdoor Learning

Learning outdoors is an essential part of our education offer at Ysgol Cefn Meiriadog. We strive to offer children opportunities to explore, discover and connect with the world around them. Outdoor learning promotes curiosity, creativity, and problem-solving by engaging pupils in real-life contexts beyond the classroom walls. It supports physical health and wellbeing through active play, while also fostering social skills such as teamwork, resilience, and communication. Being outdoors nurtures a sense of responsibility for the environment, encourages independence, and makes learning more memorable and meaningful. By providing a balance of indoor and outdoor experiences, we are helping children develop a love of learning, a deeper connection to nature, and the skills they need to thrive in life.

All of our classes have regular opportunities to learn outdoors. We have specific areas of learning outdoors to ensure curriculum skills are developed through play and experiences whilst also giving the children many opportunities to explore, create and problem solve both together and independently.
