ECO Committee

We have an active eco-committee set up at our school who organise various events for the whole school throughout the year.

We meet regularly to organise eco-days in which the whole school works together on activities linked to the eco-schools award.

We are currently on our silver award and are working towards achieving the Green Flag award by the end of this academic year!

We have set up an action plan of targets for this year and are working hard to achieve them. We involve the local community with our projects.

There are nine topics of the eco-school programme which we work on together. These are:

1. Litter

2. Waste Minimisation

3. Water

4. Transport

5. School Grounds

6. Global Citizenship

7. Energy

8. Bio-diversity

9. Health, Well-being and Food

These nine interlinked topics help schools to develop a more rounded approach to Education for Sustainable Development and Global Citizenship.

Eco-Club

Every week we hold an eco-club where we take part in many different initiatives. Sometimes we go on a litter pick around the school grounds and surrounding area so that we make sure that there is no litter around our beautiful countryside.

During the last term, we have raised some money by holding a Fairtrade coffee morning. From this money we have purchased two new birdboxes that have been put up on trees on our school playground. One of these boxes has a camera attached to it. We can't wait to see which birds are going to make a home for themselves inside it!

We also make sure that our school grounds attract different types of wildlife. We plant seasonal plants throughout the year and have many planters around our school building.

Eco Schools at Home

During the year, the eco-committee encourage everyone in the school to try one of the many activities that are shown here.
