Welcome to the Discoverer's Class page, here is some information that you may find useful.

Mrs Laura Evans is the Phase Leader and is responsible for the running of our classes. 

Our team include Mrs Sian Williams, HLTA, Mrs Gina Wilkins TA and Miss Amy Bingham, TA and Miss Katie Norton, TA

Learning starts at 9 am everyday, so please make sure you arrive at school on time. Our school day finishes at 3pm unless alternative arrangements have been made e.g taxi or after school club.

Reading days- Children will read on a daily basis, so we ask that you ensure reading books are in school everyday. Reception children will need their sound books in school every Thursday, so that we can update their weekly sounds.

Snack-You can pay for fruit using ParentPay. Alternatively, you can send fruit in with your child everyday. We are a healthy school, so only fruit will be given at snack times.

PE- Our PE day is a Monday, we ask that children come to school in their kits please and will remain in their kits for the school day. There is a school PE kit which can be purchased from First Class Clothing in Prestatyn. Nursery children do not need to come in kit, this is full time children only.

Homework- Children in Year 1 and Reception have weekly spellings to learn for a test on a Friday. It is also very important to listen to your children read as often as possible and write a comment in the reading record.

Topic work- The Discoverers will have a new topic every term. Each topic will begin with a problem or question that the children will work together to solve. We will work to produce a 'final piece' that will be shared either with their friends, the whole school and sometimes the wider community.

Nursery

Our Nursery sessions run from 1pm-3pm everyday, we aim to deliver a varied and exciting curriculum where children have a big input into their learning.

We ask that children have spare clothes and wipes in a bag, just in case. Sometimes children can be so engrossed in their learning, accidents do happen.

Our children have a snack every afternoon, this consists of fruit and a drink of milk or water. You can make a payment for fruit via ParentPay, alternatively, you can send fruit with your child. Please let us know if your child is unable to have milk.

In the Discoverer's Class we use Read, Write Inc for our phonics and we use Numicon and Inspire for our Maths lessons. These sessions are held during the mornings and we have lots of hands on activities to help us learn.
